Bible Verse Generator

Tell it what today feels like. Choose a theme — anxiety, fear, hope, strength, peace, love, faith, healing, gratitude, patience, forgiveness, encouragement — and it draws a verse from that theme's curated list of fifteen. Every verse is real, verbatim text from the King James Version or the World English Bible.

Quick answer: This generator maps twelve themes to curated lists of fifteen Bible verses each (180 verses in total, all verified against the public-domain KJV and WEB texts). Pick a theme and it draws one verse at random from that list — the right verse for the moment, from a list a person chose rather than a machine invented. You can regenerate freely and switch translations on every result.

Every verse here is verbatim public-domain text (KJV 1611 / WEB). Themes map a feeling — anxiety, hope, strength — to verses whose content actually addresses it; each list of fifteen is checked verse by verse when this site builds. This is a curated generator: for full-Bible uniform randomness, use the random Bible verse tool.

Curated lists, honestly described

A generator that draws from the entire Bible produces genealogy most of the time. This one draws from curated per-theme lists instead: fifteen verses that are actually about the theme, chosen and checked by hand. The trade-off is stated plainly — this is a curated generator, not full-canon randomness. If you want the raw version, the random Bible verse tool on this site draws uniformly from all 31,102 verses.

Each theme's fifteen verses are also published as a browsable page, so you can read the whole list rather than one draw at a time. The theme pages read the same verified text and show both translations on every verse.

Why themes work better than keyword search

Searching a Bible app for "anxiety" returns every verse that contains the word — including passages about other people's anxiety, judgment on the anxious, and verses where the word appears incidentally. The lists here work the other way: the theme describes the situation, and the verses are selected because their content addresses it. Philippians 4:6 is a verse about anxiety even though the KJV never uses the word; it says "Be careful for nothing" — where "careful" in 1611 English means anxious.

That translation gap is one reason every card toggles to the World English Bible: "Be careful for nothing" becomes "In nothing be anxious," which is what the Greek actually says.

Where the verse lists come from

Each theme list was compiled from well-established passages — the verses pastors, chaplains and Bible-reading plans most consistently cite for that situation — and then every reference was verified programmatically against the KJV and WEB source files used by this site before publishing. If a citation did not exist in the source text, the build fails; there are no paraphrased or reconstructed verses anywhere in the data.

The lists favor verses that stand on their own when quoted, since the use case is a single verse shown on a card — not a full exegesis of the passage.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from the random Bible verse tool?
The random tool draws uniformly from all 31,102 verses — fully random, full canon. This generator draws from curated lists of fifteen verses per theme, so results are relevant to the chosen topic every time. Both are free, both use the same verified KJV/WEB text, and both have a translate toggle.
Which feelings or topics can I choose?
Twelve: anxiety, fear, hope, strength, peace, encouragement, love, faith, healing, gratitude, patience and forgiveness. Fifteen curated verses each, 180 in total. Each theme also has its own browsable page with the full list, an introduction and FAQs.
Are the verses real or AI-generated?
Real, verbatim, and verified mechanically. The verse text is served from this site's own copies of the King James Version (1611) and World English Bible — both public domain. During the site build, every one of the 180 theme references is checked against those files; if a reference is missing or mistyped, the build fails before publishing. No verse on this site is written, paraphrased or completed by AI.
Can I use the verses for social media or church materials?
Yes — KJV and WEB are public domain, which means the text itself can be quoted, printed and shared freely, including commercially. The verse cards this site generates are yours to post or print. Attribution to the translation ("KJV" or "WEB") is good practice and is already included on the generated cards.
