About this site
Bible Verse Generator is a free, independent Bible verse tool. It does two things with unusual care: it draws truly random verses from the complete King James Version — all 31,102 of them — and it publishes curated verse collections and daily verses with every quotation verified against the source text at build time.
Why this site exists
Most "random verse" sites are not random. They draw from a shortlist of a few hundred famous passages, which is why the same encouraging verses keep appearing — and why readers who want to genuinely open the Bible at random cannot. This site builds the honest version: a uniform draw across the entire canon, genealogy and all.
The curated side (verse of the day, twelve topic collections) is built the opposite way — small hand-chosen lists — and says so openly. Curated and random are labeled distinctly everywhere on the site; nothing pretends to be the other.
Text accuracy — the site's one hard rule
- Only two translations are used, both public domain: the King James Version (1611) and the World English Bible.
- No copyrighted translation (NIV, ESV, NASB, NLT and similar) is reproduced anywhere — that requires a license this site does not hold.
- Every curated reference — 417 daily verses and 180 topic verses — is checked programmatically against the source text files when the site builds. A wrong or missing reference fails the build; it cannot reach the published site.
- No verse text on this site is typed by hand, paraphrased, or written by AI. The text is served verbatim from the source files.
What this site does not do
- It does not promise that a random or daily verse is a personal message, an omen or a prediction. The verse-of-the-day rotation is date arithmetic; the random draw is mathematics. What you make of the verse is yours.
- It does not replace reading whole passages. Single verses are fragments by construction — every card names its exact reference so the surrounding chapter is easy to find.
- It is not affiliated with any church, denomination, Bible society or publisher.
How the site sustains itself
The site is free to use and carries no paywall, account system or newsletter requirement. Running costs are covered by unobtrusive display advertising; there is no tracking beyond standard privacy-respecting analytics (see the privacy policy). Verse text and image cards are public domain and free for you to reuse anywhere, including commercially.
